The Architect, The Judge, and The Doctor
2018, Oil Paint, 7”x10”
This piece deals with the pressure that my parents and family have given me to become an architect, judge, or doctor, yet the contradiction of lack of representation of queer, feminine presenting Asian people in these fields. I struggle with the guilt of choosing to go into an art profession instead of utilising the resources my parents have given me to get a job that they approve of. I painted these portraits in a classical style to emphasise the classic and more normative jobs that they wished I had gone into.
